Afternoon teas

Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic meant that the two day a week café had to close and the church asked if we could provide an afternoon tea café over the summer using the grounds as well as the café indoors – all spread out to make the environment Covid safe.

We used accessible order forms to enable all trainees to perform the widest range of tasks independently. To support this venture and add extra opportunities for more of our young people we ran weekly baking classes providing the cakes, biscuits, scones and cheese straws for the café. Each trainee focused on one recipe for a number of weeks which enabled them to become proficient and develop their independence.
